A crisp white button down shirt is an essential garment in any woman’s wardrobe, especially during the summer. The classic white shirt is a modest piece that can easily be rolled up and unbuttoned to fit the personality of the individual wearing the piece. I personally have several variations of white button down shirts in my closet: a crisp cotton, a soft silk shirt for dressy events, and a more casual piece that I wear as a coverup while lounging by the pool or on weekends. While a white button down is far from a groundbreaking style, it’s a solid foundation to a fabulous outfit and fun to style and wear.

A Nautical Outfit ready for a Boat-ride

I recently wore a Reset Label white button down shirt tucked into Reset Label Japanese milled crepe trousers for an evening by the harbor. The nautical inspired  outfit was dressy enough for dinner, but comfortable enough to wear for a small boat. I finished the outfit with an Etienne Aigner wicker Charlotte Mini Crossbody handbag with the Kate Stoltz Splash of Ink Silk Scarf . Over the years, I have learned to always take a scarf or jacket with me to dinner- even in the midst of summer. Evening can quickly become chilly after the sun sets, especially if you're in the Hamptons, on an island or anywhere close to water. In addition, the majority of restaurants turn their air conditioning units to temperatures comfortable for male visitors dressed in three piece suits, leaving the women wishing for their own dinner jacket or silk scarf.
