A crisp white button down shirt is an essential garment in any woman’s wardrobe, especially during the summer. The classic white shirt is a modest piece that can easily be rolled up and unbuttoned to fit the personality of the individual wearing the piece. I personally have several variations of white button down shirts in my closet: a crisp cotton, a soft silk shirt for dressy events, and a more casual piece that I wear as a coverup while lounging by the pool or on weekends. While a white button down is far from a groundbreaking style, it’s a solid
Headbands have become rather popular since they appeared in several recent major runway shows. I keep getting Blair Waldorf (Gossip Girl) vibes from several of the headband wearing fashion bloggers I follow on Instagram, making me even more excited that the show is getting a reboot (expected in the spring of 2020, who's watching with me?!). If styled correctly, headbands have a way of co
Visiting Nantucket has made me realize (again) that I want a backyard filled with hydrangeas, hostas and lavender . I stayed at the White Elephant, a lovely hotel on the outskirts of the town of Nantucket, overlooking a harbor filled with boats and yachts. Walking around town was a pleasant early morning activity before the summer temperatures drove me out to the beach. Window boxes filled with blossoms and pretty grasses graced many of the homes. The weathered grey shingled houses combined with the pretty flower displays are unmistakably Nantucket...
I'm excited to introduce the'Peonies on White Carrara Marble' silk scarf. Made in Italy, the printed silk twill scarf is finished with a hand-rolled hem. At 35.5 inches square, the scarf is large enough to wear in a variety of ways, while the light 12mm silk twill is delicate enough to fold into a head band or tie onto your handbag to complete your outfit.
The silk twill peony scarf was designed with variations of pink peonies that I photographed, delicately arranged over white carrara marble. The scarf is finished with a soft pink
Every year, I celebrate Valentine's Day by doing something for myself and for a couple of friends. It doesn't have to be commercial- I usually just text or call a friend. That evening, I spend a little extra time taking care of myself and take a warm bath with my favorite oils and bath salts. Life is always busy and it feels good to slow down a little.
Valentine's Day is coming up fast. While most people think of it as a romantic holiday, I think it is a great day to celebrate friends as well. Have a single friend that always dreads the holiday because it makes her feel alone? Or want to show the friend that has been there for you through thick and thin how much you appreciate her? Remind her by sending her some flowers, chocolates, or something longer lasting, like a silk scarf that will remind her of you whenever she wear it!
I first started working with Developing Faces in 2014 after meeting a member of the organization through a friend. I went along on the first mission in March 2015. Our team completed 28 complicated surgeries on children and babies with cleft palates, bilateral cleft palates, cleft lip, and ear microtia.
The mission was life changing for me- I now understand why some people get so passionate about the work they do for a charity. The children were absolutely adorable, and the parents' gratitude was sincere and overwhelming.
.
A mission: an important goal or purpose that is accompanied by strong conviction; a calling or vocation.
.
I decided to design a scarf
exclusively to help fund Developing Faces' mission. The 'a rose to help the children' scarf was made with 10% cashmere to make it extra soft, and 90% modal to make it airy and lightweight.
.
.
The scarf was inspired by the floating rose petals that I saw while I was visiting the Santa Domingo Monastery in Antigua, Guatemala.
My favorite colors to wear with the scarf are classic black and white:
100% of profits from sales of the scarves will go towards funding the upcoming surgeries the organization will be doing in Guatemala.
