Kate Stoltz partnered with Haiti Projects, a 501(C)(3) corporation with focused initiatives to empower women of rural Haiti toward self-sufficiency. Haiti Projects is located in the town of Fond des Blancs, where approximately 80% of people don’t finish 5th grade. Most of the population relies on subsistence level farming, with high unemployment. Creating fair trade jobs through the production of these pieces enables the artisans to create better futures for themselves and their families. Profits from products sold provide access to jobs at fair trade wages, education, health care, and avenues for building sustainable community.
